Stranahan's Colorado Single Malt Whiskey
Colorado's first legal distillery since Prohibition, born from a chance encounter at a barn fire. Volunteer firefighter Jess Graber and Flying Dog Brewery founder George Stranahan started distilling together in 2004, releasing their first batch in 2006. Made from 100% malted barley (four Colorado-area varieties) and Eldorado spring water from outside Boulder, then aged in new charred American oak—like bourbon, but with a single-malt base. Each bottle is hand-signed by the distiller, sometimes with personal notes including what music was playing during production.
