Canalicchio di Sopra Rosso di Montalcino 2024
The estate's calling card: young, vibrant Sangiovese from the same terroir that produces their acclaimed Brunello. Canalicchio di Sopra (est. 1962, Consorzio co-founder 1967) sources this primarily from the clay-rich Canalicchio cru, with soils rich in magnesium, iron, and manganese. Fermented in stainless steel for three weeks, then rested one year in Slavonian oak barrels (25–50 hectoliters) and French oak (750 liters). An outstanding introduction to a serious Montalcino estate—approachable now but with real structure underneath.
